Kayla Brannon is shown receiving the first installment of her $1,000 scholarship from Lions President Jeanne Joseph. The presentation was made August 15 at the Iron River Lions Golf Scramble. Proceeds of the Scramble provide funds for scholarships. Kayla will be attending WITC-Superior. Her connection with the Lions is not new--she was the 2007 Blueberry Festival Queen.

Thanks to Vice President Darren Hanson and his Special Projects team, the memorial plaque at the Iron River ball fields looks as good as it did when installed in 1983. The plaque reads, "Iron River Lions Memorial Park. 1983. In memory of all members of the Iron River Lions Club for services rendered to the citizens of Iron River." Additional work on the parks is underway in cooperation with the Town of Iron River and Youth Baseball clubs.

Gitchee Gumee 4H Shooting Sports advisor, Lion Ray Kangas, accepts a check from Iron River Lions Treasurer, Reen Modeen. Ray will accompany the Gitchee Gumee team to the United States Junior Air Rifle Championships in Ohio at the end of June.
