Ernie Pittsley

Ernest L. Pittsley, 65, Iron River, WI resident, died Monday, September 25, 2017 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, following a thirteen year heroic battle with multiple myeloma. He was born on October 3, 1951 in Superior, WI to Ralph and Gladys (Springer) Pittsley.

Ernest graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1970. He served his country in the United States Marines. He was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over thirty years.

Ernest married Faith Ford on January 6, 1978 in Superior, WI and they celebrated thirty-nine years of marriage. He was a member of the Bayfield County Historical Society, Iron River Lions Club and American Legion Post in Iron River, WI. His favorite pastimes included daily Bible devotionals, a constant quest to learn anything new from playing the ukulele to reading poetry, reading, and sailing, tinkering with toys and electronics, and just about all outdoor activities.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Faith; one daughter, Halley Pittsley, Iron River, WI; one son, Jesse (Audrie) Pittsley, NC; three grandchildren, Ayden, Syan and Anya; one sister, Carol (Charles) Tyykila, Iron River, WI; one brother, Alan (Jodie) Pittsley, Superior, WI and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Ernie was always active as a Lion. Usually working behind the scenes, he was instrumental in many of the club's successes.
